Family Tradition

SunWest Fruit Company is committed to hard work, superior quality and caring for the environment. These values are at the heart of our family business, which started over 70 years ago.

Albert Britz immigrated to the United States in 1936 from Guenzburg, Germany. He arrived in California with just $20 in his pocket but soon found employment at Crown Zellerback Paper Co. Albert worked at the paper company while attending UC Berkeley where he met his wife, Helen.  The couple was married in 1940 and had three children, David, Linda, and Martin.

Eventually, the Britz family moved to California's San Joaquin Valley and began their farming operations. Albert and Helen bought a tree fruit orchard in Parlier, CA in 1972.  Five years later, they built a small packing house on-site to prepare the fruit for market. They continued to grow their farming operations over the years and as their children graduated college each became active in the family's farming business. In 1983, they moved their packing operations to the present site on Manning Avenue, known as SunWest Fruit Company.

Albert and Helen's legacy lives on through their children and grandchildren who continue to manage the family business. SunWest has expanded into one of California's premier citrus and tree fruit operations offering easy-peel mandarins, navel oranges, Cara Cara oranges, peaches, plums, nectarines, and pluots.

Sustainability

Over the years, SunWest's farming operation has grown but our commitment to social responsibility and sustainability is still unrivaled. Keeping the land safe, healthy and productive for future generations is one of our primary goals.

Exceptional Quality

SunWest Fruit Company is a privately owned, vertically integrated farming operation that controls all aspects of production. This model of ownership and operation enables us to strictly control our fruit quality from the tree to the produce aisle, and offer fruit of unparalleled flavor and consistency.  By maintaining a strict chain of control, we are able to offer our customers consistent appearance, size, ripeness and flavor. At SunWest Fruit Company, we farm our orchards, then pick, pack and ship every piece of fruit ourselves. It's unique, and our customers agree, it makes all the difference in the world.
