Each piece of fresh fruit is picked, hauled and packed by our employees using plastic bins, which are thoroughly washed and sanitized after each use. Citrus fruit is sent afloat to the packing line in a bicarbonate bath which inhibits the spread of decay and spores. Our fruit is computer graded twice to ensure accuracy. Once before it is washed, waxed, and packed, then once again just before shipment.
SunWest Fruit Company operates from a modern food certified packing facility. We have recently expanded our facilities to include additional citrus and tree fruit packing and cold storage capacity. The newly, completed three-megawatt rooftop solar project offsets a majority of the packinghouse's electricity usage.
